Madison Lawson
Madison Lawson is a journalist, model and disability rights activist. Lawson has written for publications including Vogue, Glamour, Allure, Teen Vogue and more. She worked closely with Olay to develop the very first accessible skincare container and continues to work with brands to make the fashion and beauty industries more accessible for people with disabilities.
Born with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, disability has been a part of Lawson’s life since she was born. Lawson feels most empowered when she is surrounded by members of the disabled community.
July is Disability Pride Month, a month to celebrate the strength and resilience of the disabled community and to learn about the disability rights movement.
This month Lawson wants to encourage you to watch “Crip Camp,” a documentary on Netflix highlighting the beginning of the disability rights movement, led by mother of the disability rights movement, personal hero and her late friend Judy Heumann.
Lawson celebrates disability pride by reflecting on the work her disabled ancestors did in order to give her community the rights they have today, knowing there is still so much work to be done and plans to continue pushing the needle forward to create a better world for the next generation of disabled kids.
She wanted to share a little piece of disabled joy and that for her is makeup. She put together some of her Winky Lux favorites that she would recommend to you and all her best friends!
